Achieving a Milestone

Dale-Sitting-smA milestone for an entertainer can be getting that first restaurant job, entertaining at a birthday party, or landing that first corporate gig.  In our personal life it may be schooling, marriage, children, or buying a house when the realization set in that “holy crap, I am an adult”.

Never overlook the milestones in life no matter how small they may seem. If you achieve only 1% of your goal in a week, you are closer to setting a new milestone. I remember the excitement of learning how to make my first teddy bear. Compared to a basic poodle, the teddy bear was advanced. Yet, with each passing year, new skills developed, new techniques were mastered, ideas became reality. My dreams became bigger, and things which seemed impressive then, are now everyday occurrences.

Each day I would review a WordPress graph chart depicting the number of visitors that came to my blog. The vertical started with zero, 100, 200, and upward. Recently, as readership has grown, the 100 has vanished from the scale. The numeric values start with zero, 200, 400, 800 and up,  meaning I have reached a new milestone of now having more than 200 visitors a day.

This little milestone is a long way from 1,000 readers and light years from achieving a million readers a day, but it is a step in the right direction. So as long as you keep moving forward, you are heading in the right direction.

Here is a friend’s view about moving forward. Enjoy.
