Over the years, I have been to many first birthday parties, and this was one of the best! I’m a little biased about this 1st birthday party because it was my son Carter’s birthday party. Since he is the “prince” — someday he will inherit this crazy entertainment business, it was fitting to make a King and Queen balloon one of the centerpieces.
I opted to make the guest of honor’s balloon bigger than mom and dad’s. After all, he was the guest of honor.
Since Carter only has eight teeth in his cute little head, I thought his balloon figure should have eight teeth too! I make the royal sculpture a baby rattle — with a gold handle. After all his the “prince.” The statue stood just under 24 inches in height.
This April 2008, I will be entertaining for 24 years, and this was the first party that I can remember that the guest of honor ate their cake. Yes, my son wasn’t that messy, but he ate 3/4 of this smash cake. The whipped cream did not affect him. He must take after dad and like sugar. Hmmmmm….sugar. He did crash early that night. It was a big day for all of us.
This party could not go without entertainers. We had Fran Myles, a face painter I work with painting kids and adults, while Angel Contreras drew an excellent picture of Carter. He can really draw!
I have to say now that I’m a dad of a one-year-old. Where did the year go?
Great blog, Dale! Happy Birthday to the little one, too!
