January, the Month to Move Forward

Dale-kidsThey say a rolling stone gathers no moss, but if that stone only moves a fraction of an inch every decade, it will become moss covered. As I start my third decade of balloon entertaining, I find that I am constantly pushing my skills to new levels. I am not talking about balloon twisting skills, but my work ethic.

If the phone does not ring, I do not panic. It drives me to work harder to improve. Three years ago, I started working out on a regular basis, and now its part of my weekly activities, if not daily. I wrote over 200 blog posts last year and plan on doing it again this year. I am now stimulating my mind by writing jokes. They may not be the funniest jokes you have heard, but the process makes me sharper and more attentive on stage. I joined Toastmasters to keep fluent with speaking and my verbal skills sharp. With each improvement, writing, health, and mental stimulation, I find that I am progressing forward, rising to another level of entertainment.

As entertainer, I am always reaching for the next level, seeking improvement, and self-growth. January is the month where I modify my career. I do not want to be one of those people doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different outcome. Change must occur and I use January as my starting point.

I have not jumped into Barry Friedman’s 30-days Sugar Free program, but I know life changes have a big impact on an individual’s career. People like Sandi Masori and Jimmy Leo are pushing hard to reach higher business goals. So if you have not taken the time to reassess where you are going and how you are getting there, do not worry. There still time left in January to plan.

  1. Totally agree! I’ve taken to children’s magic & find that I am loving it more & more. Funny thing because last August I attended Kidabra for the business part & told everyone I met that I really wasn’t into magic.

Less than 6 months later, I’m working harder at this art than I ever did at balloons or face painting!

By the way, I really enjoy your posts – please keep at it!
