I came across an article in the Los Angeles Times about Balloon Animals and Surgical Mask and its referring to how entertainer(s) help cheer people up in time of need. As entertainers, we have to put ourselves into a happy place when entertaining. Things as simple as a balloon animal can make a kids face light up and forget their problems for that hour. If we can do that, then we’ve accomplished our job.
For the past few years I have entertained at a Catholic Hospital, Little Company of Mary, for families who have lost a love one. The event (Night of Remembrance) is a simple buffet style dinner with balloon entertainment, music and a small ceremony to remember the ones that have passed. I try not to think about what brought them together, but focus on how much fun their is in life. I think that is what entertainment should be about.
