Here's a cool question, not on the topic of vests, but of artistic name.

What do you guys think of reusing someone else name?? for instance, if I wanted to be called: Bounce, or  Wacko, or some other name that's been "taken"?? I mean an artist name not the real name,  who's gonna call himself "Don Caldwell", or "Dale".....

how about using the term "balloon-gineering" or "balloonimation"?? which I believe they are taken.

For the record, I'm using "Benny Balloon Art".

tnx!

Benny

If you can come up with your own creations you should be able to come up with a name. I know of enterainers that own their stage names copyright or something. I don't think that is a very good idea. you would be asking for trouble.

Hi Benny,

My 'stage name' was chosen because of it's total originality and uniqueness... 'The Balloon Lady'   I mean after all, how many other lady balloonists are out there right?

I guess you already know the direction I'm taking with this post.  Choose a name that you are comfortable with and expresses what you want you want to convey to your potential audience.  The only thing I would worry about would be calling yourself "Benny, The Balloon Guy" if there was already a "Benny, The Balloon Guy" in your own local area.

Happy Twisting,

Bonnie, The Balloon Lady

Names are use more for advertising, I still have many customers call me the balloon man or balloon dude.  They will even advertise me as Magical dude, Balloon dude, Balloons by Dale, Magical Dale, the list can goes on.  My clown name was Hyper, very active clown , Magical Dale was my magician name, and Magical Balloon-dude Dale is what I promote now.  A name can be based on a favorite balloon, color, or just a nick name.  I have a friend who clowns under Hanky and her last name is Hankus.  You may have a name that your family calls you that is different and can be used.  You options for a name are limited only to your imagination.

See That's what I mean, some of the names are copyrighted, others are a little more common. and then if you use a copyrighted name and the previous owner comes and demands that you stop using that name your clients will be a little lost,  anyway,

Now I graduated of engineering, I just would love to use balloongineering

I though of Balloon-o-tronics, but it sucks!!!!

and of course Balloon++ or Balloon# would require too much explanation, (C# and C++ are programming languages). The best next thing would be Balloon-ware (as in software/hardware), or Balloon-tech... Techn-o-lloon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So i think i'll stay with just "Balloon Art" for now. maybe I could talk to the Sorells to see if they let me use it at least on the flyers and the business cards..... I mean I'm a little twister on PR,  and it's just some video tapes....  *sigh*

PD.

I must repeat myself: "Uzzaaaaa!!!" "I'm not a name, The creativity is in me, not in the name, I'm not a name"  "Uzzaaaaa!!!"

I just get called the "balloon lady is here" or "She's Here, She's here." The kids usually don't care what your name is. It's just something you put on a card for the adults to TRY to remember so they can call you.   I

picked out the name....Balloonatic Bridgett....for MANY reasons. My husband and friends agree on the "Lunatic" part. Because it fits my unique personality. Many more to go with it. I am sometimes a stereotypical blonde and do what they do best, be dizzy. I do the craziest things and sometimes...I'd hate to say it...have Jessica Simpson moments. And I couldn't come up with much else of originality because being a housewife, 3 men, a bunch of testosterone,   What other name could I come up with but Balloonatic.

Sorry so lenghty, but it's a good topic. Thanks benny_pr.

You know what??

please don't think bad of me.... I just had a Jessica Simpson moment,

We speak Spanish down here!!!!!! *sigh*......

This happens to me because I'm always thinking in English when I read/write on the net, and also with balloon books/Videos....

So.... "Benny, el Hombre de las Bombas"!!!.... (Benny the Balloon Man).... "Benny, Arte con Bombas" (Balloon Art)

OK... Back to the drawing board.....keep you posted....

Thanks Guys!!!!

A name should be chosen with care. It will be with you for a long time. I went around as "The Balloon Man" until my friend "Fuzzy the Clown" named me. Here I stand before you as "Pretzel". Not only does it bring attention to my twisting skills, but it is an inside joke about my "twisted" sense of humour. " I am more twisted then a pretzel!!" I have been twisting for 16 years (9 professionaly) and have been "Pretzel" for only 2. Take your time, and find something that truely suits you. Do not hesitate to ask friends or family for suggestions. The end result will be worth it.

I never had to choose a name for myself.  When I started twisting (single balloon animals) 10 years ago a friend said with a laugh "what are you??  LouLou the clown"  From there it just stuck.  I've though about changing it but to many kids know me as Loulou.  It would be inpossible to do.

Whatever you choose you should be comfortable with it. Some people have gone through several names before they settle on one.
I'm interested in knowing why Macpump thinks it's a mistake to incorporate and register yor name. There are many advantages to incorporating. Limiting your liability and certain tax advantages are good ones. Protecting your name IS a big advantage. The best thing I can think of is to stop someone of less than ethical standards from using your name and having the public confuse you and them.
