Hello,

I am brand new to the forum but have been twisting for just about two years. I have not worked up to doing the big cartton character twists yet but I'm working on it.

I came up with an idea and I wanted to see what everyone thinks. If it is just as good to work out of an apron please let me know because I am looking for advice.

K-mart sells a folding cart for groceries and things it has a crate at the bottom with a long handle. It folds into a small package.

I thought to take this cart and put a cooler on top of it. In this cooler I would keep just the balloons and nothing else. I was then going to put velcro on the top of the cooler and sew a skirt that would go around the sides and front to hide everything and make everything look uniform. On the outside of the skirt would be allot of pockets for ball putters ect. basically anything that doesn't need to be cool.

I would work right out of the cooler.

On the front of the station is one alrge pocket that holds about 100 lollipops and a child is invited to reach in and pull out a pop if they get one with a red bottom on the stick they win a special prize which could be a special BIG balloon or a carnival toy etc. The kids really love it. they get to keep the pop even if it doesn't have a red bottom.

Any thoughts would be great. I was more curious as to what you thought about the station. Would it be just as good to take them out of a coller into an apron and work that way? Thanks allot and have a great day.

It's up to you - if you can handle the extra time it will take to set up the cart every day. Unless I misunderstood, It is nice to have the cart per say, but you would still have to cart all of the things that you are going to put into the cart. To me that is just extra work! As of last year, my ankle has gotten worse and I need to have a chair to perform from when I work in just one spot. If I am strolling table to table, I don't use the chair - unless there is a free one close by - or my cane, just too much to bring around with me in the tight spots that I have to work in!

But every twister's situation is different depending on the venue you look to work in - so gear it up for the venue! What will work the area the best and make it easy enough for you to work from. I have slowly changed things for myself to work from. It may have sound good on paper but didn't work in reality. Trial and error will always be the final answer for you. So, give it a try! If it works for you - terrific! Just keep in mind where you will be working!

Good Luck!

Hello All!!
I agree with Rick.....gear yourself for the venue......when I am working one of my Farmer's Market, I work out of a soft cooler with a hat on top for the tips. However, at many of the other events that I am hired for, I am expected to stroll, so the prime situation is just to strap on the apron and "migrate with the herd". When teaching balloon art in a classroom setting, it is totally different.
