Hello everybody. I have a question. I have an
Arleenie Beenie apron (yellow and black) but there is a
problem. There are not enough pockets for all of my
colors. There are only enough for the standard
colors. I would like to have other colors such as clear and
such but I am running out of room. I was thinking
about the ones at MBD2 .com but they seemed kinda expensive.
what do you think?? Are they worth it?? They seem to have many
pockets

Hello Spencer,
Personally...I
like to stock a wide variety of colors in my apron. I think that it
is a great thing that the aprons come with so many pockets. When you
take into consideration that the quality of the aprons that are sold
at MBD2.com will probably last a very long time you might not mind
spending the money....when you think about it...it will only cost
you what....maybe 2 hours of twisting???? I had mine custom made by
a local seamstress...it has pockets for 160's, 260's, 350's, 646's,
bee bodies, hearts and other assorted specialty balloons as well as
pockets for the mini glowsticks that I put inside the balloon
animals.
Unfortunately,
MBD2.com does not have an apron that would suit my needs (and
if you do come up with one, Dale....I'd LOVE to see it!!!!) But I
would not mind at all investing in one...
Hope my 2 cents
worth helps!!!
Another option
is to get an old suitcase and glue dividers into it to separate your
colors.....

HI Pickles,
I share your concerns. I didn't want to spend "so much money" on
an apron when I could "make it myself."
Well, I can't sew very well and my time is VERY precious as I
twist, juggle, work part time as an audio visual technician, and
also do banquet service. All to generate ONE job worth of income.
This all took about three weeks to a month. I continued to use my
little bag and tried to keep my balloons organized, but it was very
frustrating to me.
We live on a cash basis in our house, no credit cards. So, I
dipped a little from a couple checks and before I knew it, $50 bucks
were available to me.
Sooooo, I took the plunge and bought the absolute very best apron
Dale at mbd2 had. YES, I didn't want to spend fifty bucks on an
apron. NO, I didn't have time to make one.
I AM SO EXCITED WITH MY NEW SMILEY FACE APRON!!!!! I spent about
2 hours putting in all THIRTY color spaces available. It has "quick
load" velcro's with snaps, tons of pockets, and ties for my scissors
and anything else I can think of.
YOU ARE WORTH A TOP OF THE LINE APRON!!
Invest in that apron and wear it proudly. I am already generating
more calls from having the apron.
Besides, Dale has got to make a little profit or we wouldn't have
anywhere to turn to crab and talk about all this stuff! Hahaha.
Well worth the investment!

I got
frustrated with trying to use an apron that was not big enough for
everything that I needed to carry. Fortunately for me, I sew, so I
invented my own bag that holds all my balloons, scissors, sharpies,
you name it. I would recommend spending the
money on a quality product. You will be glad you did. Just make sure
that it will meet your needs. It is better to go bigger than too
small....a lesson I learned! Think of your art as an investment. It
will make twisting more organized and more fun and when customers
see that you have good products, you look more proffessional !!!

When I started, the only thing I saw being used was a fanny-pak
filled with asssorted balloons. This didn't interest me, although I
did start that way while I tried to come up with something new.
Well, I decided that I needed a bag/ap[ron that was able to hold
each color separately. So I created my own that had 6 pockets and it
was 2 rows high! I added the balloon fabric so it would match the
suspenders that I was using. Then as the amount of colors increased
from Qualatex, I had to increase the number of pockets. I now have 4
rows with 6 in each row for the top two and then 8 in each row for
the bottom two. Each pocket will hold an average of 50 balloons.
That means I carry about 1400 balloons in it! Geesh! That makes me
tired just thinking about it!!!!!
I have an altered cutter/trimmer attached to the front with
velcro so I can use it for the balloons.
It has served me well for the past 7
years!

Well
Started with an
igloo 6 pack cooler then to 3 pocket apron back to cooler to a 22
pocket Aleenie Beeenie (Did I get enough "ee"s) and I love it. I
carry about 50 or so colors and 160's 260's 360s 646s and slim jims.
How do you do that Mr. TBAFKAR? Well I'm glad you asked. All
shades of green: Wintergreen, neon Green Emerald Green, flat Green,
Lime Green and Teel Green all go in the same pocket. about 20 or
more of each in one pocket. Oh did I mention that this includes
all the various sizes in in these shades. Flat Red and Flusche
abunch of each with the assorted sizes in one pocket. Blues
shades in another Yellows and oranges in another pocket
Brown, White, Grey, and Clear in another pocket Gold,
Silver, and Black Pink, Rose and Flesh tone in another pocket
Then there are the speciality balloons. 5 inch rounds, Geos,
Slim Jims, twistys, Aliens, Larger rounds, bee bodys and hearts etc.
I have 3 ziplock bags with a selections of each of these
that I can now put in another pocket.
Benefits of this. I
have a pocket for pens, cards, other supplies. Ever notice how
purple looks like black looks like brown looks like blue looks like
green.
I identify each balloon color by the various shades
it is with.
All sizes together forces me
to reconsider my creations to perhaps make it in a 360 or larger or
make a detailed 160 creation. I have become more creative. I used to
keep 160s, 360's 646s separate from the rest of my balloons.
The top pocket immediately to my right is the Tip pocket.
Are there any questions?

I
first started with a single bag, this was used for 1 bag of
standard assorted 260's, then I upgraded to 8 pocket apron,
which I would separate the geo's, rounds, hearts, bee's and
260's. The bag was nice, but had a
hardtime finding specific colors. I was visiting IBAC and saw
Patrick Duffek
and how he had his balloons arranged. The balloons were grouped
together with the nozzle end up. I then developed my own bag,
which was okay, but then I heard about the Twist’m Up Apron. That is what I use and have
been using for years.
I like the product so much I sell them in the mbd2.com
store.

Aprons don't work for me as a
clown, so I carry a carpet type bag with my balloons sorted into
ziplock bags by colour.

You might want to ask Arleenie
Beenie about my apron. I've created a new concept for aprons
(hopefully the patent office will respond soon!). It's configurable,
expandable, doesn't lose balloons to the bottom, and does just about
everything I need except serve coffee... or "kawfee" as Jimmy would
say. It's in its second generation of field testing and getting good
reviews. Arleenie will be making them soon on my behalf!

Started with a big old bag
filled with assorted colors. Made me more frustrated than ever.....I
can be a little particular about things.
I mainly sit in a
chair while twisting, so I don't need an apron.
Now I have a
busking bag from Twist'm up. It's bigger than the ones offered here
on mbd2. It has three inserts of 15 strips each. And I fill them
all!! It keeps all of my balloons (160's, 260's, 350's & 646's)
in order and at my finger tips. Then I stuff all the bee-bodies,
hearts, geo's, donuts, rounds, markers, scissors, pumps &
business cards in the side pockets.
It works great for me.
It does take a little time reloading the strips. But I do that while
watching tv at night and I REALLY like reaching in and getting the
exact color that I want.

Hello Everyone,
I
started out with just a carpenters apron many moons ago. After going
to a couple of Jams and then T&S I saw the twist-m-up aprons I
decided to take the plunge.
I have been very happy with my
apron and busking bag. Don't let the initial cost scare you. The
comfort and ease of using them will prevail.
I use the apron
for large events and restaurant work. I use the busking bag for
small events like B-Days.
Well worth it in the long run.
Have had mine for over a year and I love it.

I bought one of the aprons from
this site and so far I have found it to be very useful. I do have a
concern though since I bought the one with the deep pockets for
beginner's verses the velco one. Could anyone online recommend a
neat way to get the balloons to stand up in the deep pockets and
look nice? I have tried using hair ties but when I use about 3
colors the balloon left in the bag start to droop over before the
nest show. Perhaps I do not have enough balloons in the bag to begin
with. I have also found it difficult to put more that two colors in
each pocket because I'm folding them in half to get them to fit. Do
you have a solution to my problem? Thank you for your assistance in
any manner.
Thanks:

i want to buy a apron and i took your advices about it, "buy the
biggest and the best one you can find" "and buy it from dale".
but i dont think that the standard ones are good, i your working
out the balloons can overheat because the fabric is black...
should i buy a white one? or another color?
i think its another way to keep your balloons cool, i'm
sure that the cooler works
better.
