Hi all,

I'm averaging buying about six bags of balloons a week. YIKES!! It feels like I'm not really making all that much stuff, but after a fun party, I'm low on balloons.

My most major expense is the balloons. What is your attitudes about how you handle balloons and their costs?

I twist fairly fast and use an average of 2 - 3 per character.

How many balloons do you folks run through in a week?

Thanks!

Luke,
What kind of parties you doing?
My typical birthday party has about 12 kids X 3 balloons =36 + special BD balloon and popping your still at 50 balloons max. I guess if you are doing 12 parties a week. Even at festivals I usually only twist 4 hours a day, because I do comedy shows and parades too... But 2 min per sculpture using 2-3 balloons occasionally 4 balloons I am still looking at 400 balloons or less. Any way as I keep my balloon inventory/ order spread sheet I can tell you that I go through an average of 5 bags a week and I am one of the busiest entertainers in my area. I order individual colors, I order ever 2 months. I also have my restaurants in that mix. So I am ordering about 40 bags of balloons every 2 months. Maybe you should raise your fee?
Hope that helps,
Jewls

Thanks for the comments, Jewels!

I am doing a TON of "Networking Events" here in Columbus, trying to get in front of as many people as I can. Therefore, I tend to blow through a lot of balloons as I'm schmoozing folks for business at the same time.

I have started at a restaurant here and am averaging $50 per week, with tips rising each week.

Therefore, I'm always blowing balloons. I'm also using my new ELECTRIC PUMP from Majiloon that is AWESOME and worth every penny!

How much do you charge? I'm charging $XX for a Birthday and $XXX / $XXX hourly rates.

This is such a great place to post an honest question that is at the core of my little business, to get in front of as many people as I can right now. I don't mind that I have to trade off so many balloons at a time.

Thanks for your feedback!

Luke

***  Okay, I have to do some moderating here!  ****O:P>

Please, I realize this is an open forum, but we have to be very careful when discussing prices.  There is a thing called price fixing, and this usually develops when a forum/group talks about prices and unknowingly /knowingly established a price.

If you would like to discuss pricinig, email the individual directly.  Otherwise, please exclude exact pricing.

Thank you

Dale

Hello All!!
The amount of balloons I use would vary from week to week.I have gone through as many as 1400 balloons in a day. I average about 70-90 balloons an hour when things are flying. I prefer not to work that way as I really enjoy the interaction with the "little people".
The Balloons cost about 7-8 cents each here in Canada, so I don't find the cost too bad. Maybe you should raise your rates or you could supplement the paid jobs with a nice busking position somewhere.
Good Luck!!!

During the real busy times, summer!, I will go through about 7 bags a week on the average. My number of balloons will be a little lower because I have a menu that I go around with so they can pick the design and the color. This does take a little time. But with the arthritis, It seems to help me having the little time between balloons! But of course, I will be asking what they want while I am finishing up the current balloon so that I am ahead of the game!

My record is 49 bags in a week but my average is about 14. I try not to think about how many bags I go through, when I started I had a habit of making smaller models when I was running low. I now am of the opinion that using less balloons is false economy the more you use the bigger impression you create , the more bookings you will get and the more you can raise your price. every ballon you use raises your profile...maybe...
