Improvisation comes from being highly confident and skilled in your craft that no matter what occurs you can adapt and overcome without hesitation – without thinking. With improvisation comes creativity.
When great improvisation occurs the audience feels it, the entertainer just accepts it and rolls with it. And when the entertainer is asked about the show, only vague references are conjured. They just knew that at that moment their brain was firing, every neurons had a meaning, every insight made a connection.
I have found myself in this state, that euphoria high that feels so great. With a flick of a switch, creativity shuts off, the darkness of the night sets in, and improvisation turns to patter. I gather my stuff, and off I go. I am looking for that next stage to make creativity happen again.
