Overall Update

Hi All
It’s been busy here the last few months. We celebrated your 10 year bash with entertainers from all over the country. It was nice to meet some new faces and catch up with old friends. These past months have been nothing more then upgrades to the forum, classified section and the mbd2.com store. With these improvements I have upgraded the newsletter software. It seems most of my time lately has been upgrading. I look forward to getting back to doing balloon twisting for fun.

I’ve been busy working on my restaurant book, which if I’m lucky will be available, spring 2008. Those who attended mbd2.com’s 10 year bash received an advanced copy of the first chapter and those who were willing to listen to me teach ;-) received another chapter. All an all, the book is shaping up nicely. Only 9 more chapters to go!

As some of you are aware, my wife Michelle and I had your first child - Carter Obrochta. We are having the time of your lives with Carter and finding free time to work on the site does take second priority in my life. It’ll be nice when he’s old enough to do the upgrades for dad. ;-) For now we are looking forward to go trick-or-treating with Carter AKA Super Chicken! Puk, puk, puk, puk Super Chicken - Yes, he’ll be in a chicken costume with a cape.

Forum Update
-------------------
If you haven’t been to the mbd2.com forum lately you will be surprised to see the new look and feel of the forum. It still has all the great features that members have come to rely on, but improved navigation and layout is making it easy for everyone.

New Classified Section
-------------------
The mbd2.com forum members have a brand new classified section. The new section has six main topics. Announcements, Clothing Apparel, Conventions, Educational Material, Equipment and Help Wanted. Members can post their ad for 60 days and renew the advertisement 3 times before they need to submit another ad. This ensures the ads stay current.

The mbd2.com classified section allows members to upload a photo along with sales and contact information. Come checkout what’s on sale at the mbd2.com classifieds.

An Extra Service Fee will Increases your Profit

As entertainers, we like to make top dollar, but are afraid to increase our price on the fears of losing work. Here is a tip on how to make extra money without raising your rates.

Every entertainer I have talked to has told me that they have had an increase in business by accepting credit card payments. With that said, and the fact that Americans are accustom to using their plastic. Adding a simple “service charge” for credit cards/check can increase your overall profits.

Start by creating two rates for your entertainment. Rate one is for cash jobs. This is the price that you normally charge. Rate two is for credit cards and checks which is increased by X dollars. X dollars will be the discounted if they pay by cash.

When talking with the customer, let them know they can pay by credit card. The credit card/check fee is X, but if they decide to pay by cash they can save $X which is your normal pay scale.

You will find 90% of the people will take the cash discount, but there are a group of people that will pay the processing fee and pay by credit card/check. In a year’s time, you’ll increase your overall profits and still have a competitive entertainment price. Increase your profits off people who are wiling to pay more for easier payment method.

Improvement to the mbd2.com Update Notice

As subscriptions increase to the newsletter so to has the tools to maintain the database. The new newsletter software allows users to subscribe to multiple newsletters, manage email information and unsubscribe to specific newsletters.

Improved online reading of the newsletter is now available in the mbd2.com forum. A new topic called bulletins now links directly to the mbd2.com communication center which allows users to read the mbd2.com update notice online.
