Balloon Jam 5 Pictures

I’m close to uploading all the photos for mbd2.com balloon jam 5.
I would like to thank everyone who came and participated in this jam.
It was fun, educational, and entertaining.
I have just started to develop
a table of contents for the pictures and have added information to the
pages. I will be editing the pages in the next couple of weeks adding
footer information and commentary about the pictures. This will be an
ongoing process until I have all of them completed.

Ralph Dewey deadline to nominate a balloon twister for the Ralph Dewey’s
Balloon Excellent Award is coming quickly. If you know of an individual

Each year the awards are presented
around January or February. If you would like to nominate a candidate
for one of these awards, forward a written recommendation and any supporting
pictures or information to me in December (no later than December 15th).
Balloon Excellence Awards presented

This award is given to someone who has been the best at promoting the
art of balloon twisting by their abilities, innovations and quality of
character in a given year.
“Career Contributor”
This award is given to an individual who has made a significant career
contribution to the art of balloon twisting by their abilities, innovations
and quality of character for over 15 years.
“Rising Star”
This award is for a relative newcomer who has shown enormous natural talent
and balloon twisting creativity.
“Trailblazer”
The trailblazer is an award given to an individual who has made a significant
contribution to the art of balloon twisting by pioneering an event, creating
a technique, or by developing a resource which furthers the art of balloon
sculpturing.

Review: BLUE Digital Badge

I the middle of November I started to carry a new BLUE digital badge.
Here is a quick review of the product.
Appearance – Excellent!
Strong magnet will hold the digital badge on secure.
Operation – To operate
the BLUE badge you will need to use three buttons, one button to accept
the function and two others to page up and down alpha, numerical, and
special characters like $, /, ^,{, etc…
Messages displayed: Six messages
can be displayed along with controlling the brightness and speed of the
display.
Battery – The BLUE digital
badge requires a 3.5 volt batter. This is different by from the 3.0 volt
batter used in the RED digital badge. The BLUE badge can use the 3.0 volt
batter, but runtime will be reduced.
Cost – The BLUE digital
badge is advertised at $34.95 which is a very completive price. But this
does not include the inferred device (RAT), cables, software, case, and
extra batteries. These extras bring the total over $60.00. Battery cost
is more expense too.
Conclusion: If you’re going
cheap and do not need to change your messages, then I would strongly recommend
the BLUE digital badge. One of the weakness of the BLUE digital badge
is it inability to edit a message. If you misspell the word, you’re
going to have to re-key your message. This can be time consuming depending
on message length. If you do decide to use the optional inferred device
you will need a computer to attach this device. Unlike the RED digital
badge which comes with a portable RAT, the BLUE digital badge attaches
to a cable off your computer and is not portable.
User friend is not the strong
point of this product. It’s like a watch you get at Christmas. Looks
great, has multiple functions - tells time, stop watch, alarm clock all
with the same three buttons. Most people are happy just to set the time
and date correctly.
I do have to say the BLUE LCD display is an eye catcher. Compared to the
RED display, I like the blue. I would suggest that if you order this product,
get the software, cable, and inferred board. It will save you time and
frustration and make the BLUE digital badge usable right away.
